its been too long...

ive been long gone on this thing...i've moved all my efforts to ENCORESTATUS.BLOGSPOT.COM.

just had to come on here and post this video because beyonce is hands down the baddest in all of the land.

calling all divas and divos!! lol

i just couldnt stay mum...

haven't blogged in a while, but there's just so many things going on right now i HAD to say something...

1) HOW THE HELL IS RKELLY INNOCENT? no seriously. how.

2) HOW DO THE CELTICS TRAIL BY 24 AND STILL MANAGE TO WIN?! ha! you tell me?! though im from nyc, its all boston right now. KG deserves at least one ring before he dies...this could be it.

3) MUCH RESPECT to weezy f baby. i know, it sounds so strange coming from me. but his rant on al sharpton on "misunderstood" from the carter III has made him great to me right now.

4) i cant WAIT until sol angel & the hadley street dreams drops. saw solange perform the other night (hobbling on and off stage, and all...not to mention she opened for chrisette michele and raheem devaughn who were BOTH amazing. AND she bought BILAL out!)...video for her single...

5) BIG UPS to mr. mickey factz. finally, tv and print are recognizing and the video for "rockin and rollin" was on BET. takeover, the game's over lol

6) i know i'm late, but i ran across wale's video for W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E. its pretty hot. i'm glad people are getting back to actual video concepts. thank gawd. (ps: wale's "mixtape about nothing" is RIDICALASS)

7) i really applaud mtv for actually doing something right. FNMTV premiered tonight, hosted by pete wentz. they premiered videos for the ting tings ("shutup and let me go"...you know, the song from the ipod commercials), pussycat dolls, and snoop dogg. which leads me into...

8) now we all have proof that snoop dogg has officially lost his mind. first he endorsed hillary clinton, then he told bey and jay to have kids, now he's doing country music. i really thought he was kidding. the song is called "my medicine". i will post the video when i can find it...

9) im addicted to hgtv. really. its getting bad.

theophilus london dropped an album today, titled "JAM!". a lovechild of 80's and 90's pop, house, and dance music, JAM! offers a futuristic sound rarely heard. heavily influenced by one of theophilus' favorite artists, micheal jackson (heard on a couple tracks), this mixtape is truly something you have to listen to to believe. theophilus' style and flow is something that you have to just witness for yourself, so download here

there's a new style brewing here in new york city...get with it or get lost!!

allow me to get personal for a second...

i know quite a few people going through the motions right now, including myself. so i decided to throw on some erykah  badu (God bless New Amerykah!!), and this song spoke to me:

"that hump"
if i could get over that hump
then maybe i would feel better, maybe i wont
if i could get over that hump
then maybe i will

Lord knows i'm,
Lord knows im trying
said i'm tired
this dope
but it make it better, but its draggin me lower
and i know it just
Lord knows

if i could get over that hump
then maybe i would feel better, maybe i wont
if i could get over that hump
then maybe i will

oh, i just want to fly away
far away
im living check to check, just tryna pay my rent
and i feel it coming down around me
and these children, a boy a little girl
and she's so pretty, oh feel me
we just need a little house...this building
my brother's sleepin on my flo'
a bitch could use a little mo'
then maybe i will feel a little better
maybe i wont fall
if i could get over...

though she is talking about being a dope fiend, i can relate to this song...and i'm hoping those who are going through it can feel this. i just wanna get over this hump.

voice of the young people.

lil mama's voice of the young people released this past tuesday. she pleasantly surprised everyone with this album, with a nice mix of the bubble gum "lip gloss" to the pulling-on-the-heart-strings single "L.I.F.E.". good job lil mama, i'm shocked! lol here's the video for L.I.F.E. ...

do it for the ladies.

i've noticed a trend in the blog world...women of color are coming out and speaking their minds! whether it be a rant about some horrible day to sharing a piece of culture or uplifting our women, we're coming out of the woodworks. this is definitely something positive and should be kept up. hopefully more women of color will come out and let people know that we have a voice!! here are some of my favorites:

expressions of a buppie. 4 beautiful young ladies share their world. these buppies (short for black urban professionals) share "what it's like to be a 20-something female navigating her way through life's maze and giving her two cents...sometimes its random, sometimes funny, but always real."

goddesses rising. 7 women from different walks of life come together with one important goal in mind: upliftment. they address social issues, sexuality, and even delve into more personal stories. in reading it, you can't help but think "i was just saying that!" or "mmhmm". feels just like a saturday with your girlfriends...empowering indeed.

she shootin. though the blog hasnt been updated for months, i still really admire the women of She Shootin. A "photography collective of five image-makers from brooklyn", the ladies really have made an impact. to contact them, you can email sheshootin@yahoo.com.

CoolCruelWorld. this blog is more along the lines of a Bossip, YBF, or ConcreteLoop. Just daily media blastings, but i find it hilarious! The site is not as saturated as the more popular ones, so I find it much more interesting to read...

herfection. though the site is now www.herfection.com, it used to be a blog! lol herfection is more my speed, dealing with the mainstream media but also the underground scene. absolutely adore this site, and it's cute!

completely off topic (though not really), Rock for Young Women will be taking place at The Knitting Factory on June 14th. the event features performances from female rockers and some spoken word. this being the second annual show, i'm hoping its as great as last year's (i heard it was amazing!).

rock on ladies. rock on.
